Amir Rezaizadeh was born in Iran. He immigrated to Canada at
the age of sixteen in 1983, after the tumultuous events of the Iranian revolution and the
start of the Iran-Iraq war. He studied Electrical Engineering ̧ English Literature, Philosophy,and Law in Canada, before moving to the
United States to study at the Harvard Law School. After graduating, he practiced as a patent attorney. He began writing poetry, inspired by Leonard Cohen’s writings, soon after he arrived in Canada. He started writing fiction about a decade ago. His poe
try was published in college newspapers and Green’s Magazine. He has attended various writing conferences where he has studied with writers such as Larry Heineman, Alex Chee, and Laurie Foos.
